    Encouraging and implementing parental participation opportunities in education will lead to student success! Further, when parents are involved, this impacts not only academic success but also attitudes towards learning and parent-child relationships.

    • Students with involved parents are more likely to have higher grades, test scores and graduation rates
    • Parental Involvement instills a sense of curiosity, motivation for learning-lifelong love of learning
    • This also strengthens the bond between parent and child, fostering trust and communication
    • Equips parents with materials and technology tools to support and enhance learning outside of the classroom

    So, what can educators and schools do to engage parents in the process?

    • Provide resources for learning at home
    • Encourage our parents to be participants
    • Collaborate with Community Organizations
    • Create a Parent Advisory Committee
    • Organize Family Engagement Events
    • Encourage parent participation at the District Level
    • Create school environments that make parents feel welcome
    • Create Volunteering opportunities at school for parents to be engaged in

    Simple, Everyday Actions:

    • Read to them, or with them, for 15 to 20 minutes a day.
    • Talk to them about the world around them.
    • Model a love for learning /show them you like to learn too
    • Allow your child to problem-solve and even fail occasionally
